The Flex Files | Episode 1: The NETrekk WOW Factor

If you visited the NETrekk booth at FlyFest 2026, you probably witnessed what we call the NETrekk WOW Factor.
It happened over and over again. A fly fisher would stop to look at a NETrekk net, only to discover it seamlessly converts into a heavy-duty wading staff. Then they would notice the interchangeable handles and modular net heads. Then we might discuss the future monopod camera mount or the Goat Grip & Tip with its noise reducing soft hoof or its snagged fly retrieval feature.
Suddenly, the conversation completely shifted. It was no longer about a piece of gear; it became about possibilities.
The Moment Everything Changed
The most interesting takeaway from FlyFest wasn’t just what people thought of the FlexSystem—it was what they imagined doing with it next.
Almost immediately, they began talking about their upcoming adventures. They mapped out their favorite home waters, fishing styles, target species, backcountry & international travel plans, and unique safety concerns. They weren't just curious; they were actively designing solutions in their heads.
That is the NETrekk WOW Factor. It isn't just surprise—it is the sudden realization of endless adaptability.
Every Fly Fisher Saw Something Different
Traditional fishing nets are built for a single purpose. The FlexSystem was engineered around adaptation. Because every angler faces a unique challenge, everyone at the event saw a completely different solution:
The Guide saw pure client efficiency and durable utility.
The Tenkara Angler saw critical extra reach for safer fish landings on light lines.
The Backpacker saw the ultimate weight-saving hack—carrying less gear while doing more.
The Traveling Fly Fisher saw one airline-friendly platform replacing a garage full of specific nets.
The Content Creator immediately envisioned the modular phone and camera-mounting possibilities.
The Hiker & Wader saw a balance and stability partner.
The Small Watercraft Advantage
The Kayak, canoe, and float tube anglers also spent time at our booth. If you fish from a confined cockpit, you know that reaching too far to net a fish instantly compromises your center of gravity. What starts as an awkward landing attempt can turn into a capsizing hazard in a second.
Attendees quickly realized how our extended-reach configurations bring the net to the fish, allowing you to maintain a safe, stable, and seated position while landing fish solo.
Safe & Sustainable: A Connected Philosophy
Experienced fly fishers know that our biggest safety hazards usually happen before a fish is ever hooked. Navigating slick boulder fields, descending steep mud banks, and entering or exiting watercraft on unstable shorelines demand maximum stability.
A reliable wading staff improves balance, protects your joints over a long day, and gives you the confidence to access remote waters safely.
At NETrekk, we believe that personal safety and sustainable fish handling are deeply connected. When you have better physical stability and control, you are in a much better position to safely land, handle, and quickly release a fish without exhausting it—or yourself.
A successful day on the water isn't just measured by the fish we catch. It is measured by returning home safely and protecting the resource for the next generation.
Powering Conservation: Our Supplier & Industry Collaborations
One of our proudest moments at FlyFest 2026 was demonstrating how our commitment to gear innovation pairs directly with meaningful industry collaborations.
The FlexSystem nets feature snag-resistant, fish-friendly rubber netting designed to protect a fish's delicate slime coat. To put this philosophy into action nationwide, we have officially partnered with Fly Fishers International (FFI) to support their Safe Fish Handling for Soft Release conservation initiative.
Through our Discount & Donate Program, we are helping FFI councils, clubs, and members access the Flex Series at a discounted rate, while directly contributing donations to fund local education, conservation, and stewardship program's
Supplier engagement with exhibitors like Sea Run cases https://searuncases.com/ffl-sea-run-cases/ and Gear Keeper https://www.gearkeeper.com/ provide exciting products and opportunities to collaborate with on future possibilities.
